In fond memory

Our group lost its founder and sustaining presence on November 30, 2020.

Mussy Geer was "the heart and soul of the Classics Group in Sarasota," as one member put it. She is survived by her husband, Dren, and her loving family. We'll miss her, as we do others who left us in years past. We take the opportunity to remember them today.

Dear Tom Matrullo,

I'm a poet who moved to Sarasota in 2017. I'm currently writing the fourth book of poems in a five-book series (The Argument of Time) that was sparked my my first visit to Ostia Antica in 2014. Ovid is one of my reading obsessions and his Metamorphoses seems to figure in this new collection (at this very early moment in the writing of it). In noodling around the internet I found your Ovid blog then, to my delight, discovered not only that you live in Sarasota, but also that there is a group called "Classics in Sarasota." How may I join in the conversation? Also, might you be interested in talking Ovid with me?
